Beef Breakfast Patty

Prepare this tasty dish when you have a houseful of guests for breakfast; You can do the basic preparation the night before and allow the herbs to do their work in the refrigerator overnight.

8 patties; 49 mgs. of sodium per patty
1 pound lean chopped beef
freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon unsalted onion powder
1/4 teaspoon unsalted garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried sage
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Directions: Place all ingredients in a bowl. Wash your hands well, then use your fingers to mix the herbs into the meat so that they are evenly distributed. Form the meat into round patties about two inches in diameter and place them in a large ziplock bag. Put them in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours. Cook the patties in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until cooked through (about 10 minutes).
